Harper Court is a $139 million, 600,000 square foot public-private partnership among the City of Chicago, the University of Chicago and Harper Court Partners, LLC. One of the largest university-related redevelopments in the United States, the project blends 225,000 square feet of commercial space and a select service hotel. The project is the centerpiece to the broader 53rd Street revitalization project. It is among the most sustainable private sector developments in Chicago, securing five LEED certifications. Certifications include LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) gold, LEED for Core & Shell (LEED-CS) gold, LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) gold and two LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) certifications, including a platinum certification for the office component. The University of Chicago’s Facilities Services, IT Services, Commercial Real Estate Office and Alumni Relations and Development are based in Harper Court, as well as the Obama Foundation. Harper Court was named Development of the Year at the 26th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards and has created an estimated 1,320 new jobs.
